Uma Venkatachalam has been learning Veena since her childhood. Her musical odyssey began under the guidance of Smt. Kannammal Rangarajan in Srirangam. Upon relocating to Chennai, she further honed her skills under the tutelage of Smt. K. Rajalakshmi, an esteemed AIR artist. Presently, she is under the mentorship of the distinguished senior artist Smt. Kalyani Ganesan, also based in Chennai.
Throughout her musical voyage, Uma has performed at temples and other venues, both as a solo performer and in Veena duets alongside her sister. One notable highlight of her career was in 2023 when she served as one of the organizers and performers for the spectacular 250-artist instrumental ensemble “Panchabhootam” at the World Culture Festival in Washington DC.
Uma considers herself blessed to be able to continue her musical expedition, viewing music not merely as an art form but as a lifelong journey of self-discovery and spiritual enrichment.
