COURSE DESCRIPTION

Kanjira is a south Indian frame drum that belongs to the tambourine family. The instrument that is currently played in Carnatic concerts. The Kanjira is played with fingers of the dominant hand while the supporting hand holds the instrument and provides bass variations.

While students will have similar lesson across beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, fingering for Mridangam and Kanjira will be different.

    Instructor of Kanjira

    Skanda Narayanan received tutelage under guru Vidwan. Lakshmanan, from Thanjavur. Later he continued lessons under Vidwan T.K. Ramachandran. Skanda started performing for bhajans and concerts, both as a Mirudangam and Kanjira artist.
